The Christmas party season is upon us! And for those of us lucky enough to enjoy the odd Christmas get together (or ten), it’s time to start thinking about your outfits. In this blog, we cover the all-important tips for dressing up this Christmas party season and avoid those last minute “I have nothing to wear” panics.
There’s nothing worse than being at a party and feeling like you have to discreetly adjust your outfit all night long. It goes without saying that short skirts and plunging necklines are likely to leave you feeling all self-conscious while you’re trying to sit comfortably at a dinner table and carry out meaningful conversation. Having said that, your favourite yoga pants are also not your best bet. Instead, think pencil skirts, dramatic sleeves and mid length dresses. Like our Gingham Party Dress in black and white.
Save yourself the next day pain and invest in a good quality pair of shoes that you can wear multiple times over the summer months. Think sensible heels that you can wear to both daytime and night time events. Nude shoes are really versatile and can be worn with most colours. And better yet, a pair of strappy nude heels will give the illusion of longer legs.
A few years ago, jeans found their way into fashionable party attire. Luckily, it was a passing trend and it goes without saying that you should leave those jeans that you’ve been living in the past 6 months at home this Christmas party season. One way to ensure you don’t fall into the trap of looking too casual is to find a statement piece. Statement pieces are often made from luxurious fabrics and have on trend sleeves or neckline. Another way of ensuring your outfit looks dressy is to include beautiful accessories, like a necklace, earrings and a clutch.
Just because it’s a party doesn’t mean you have to automatically wear a dress or skirt. Jumpsuits are a trend that is continuing through Summer 17 and is a great alternative. To keep things looking fresh, pay particular attention to your shoes, jewellery and belt. The goal is to find accessories that break up the piece and highlight it at the same time. By adding a belt, you are defining your waist in a flattering way. Try matching your shoes and belt for a well put together look.
